Specialist Physicians

What to Expect from a Specialist Veterinary Physician

In addition to completing their Veterinary degree, Specialist Veterinary Physicians have years of additional training including the completion of a Master's Degree and 2-3 years of residency training.  They typically see cases that are more complicated, critically ill, or need advanced procedures performed that a Generalist Veterinarian does not routinely perform.  They are registered with the South African Veterinary Council as Specialist Veterinary Physicians.

Our team of Specialist Veterinary Physicians provide advanced diagnostic services, treatment and management of many types of complex or difficult to manage diseases.  They bring a greater understanding in the areas of internal medicine, cardiology, oncology and neurology.

Fourways Vet has a team of five Specialist Veterinary Physicians who are able to offer advanced specialist care to your pet.  They have access to state-of-the-art and unique diagnostic equipment, including an MRI scanner.  If your pet is critically ill and needs to be hospitalised, we offer a 24-hour ICU with dedicated specialist ICU nurses for each patient.

Fourways Veterinary Hospital is widely regarded as the referral centre of choice within the veterinary industry.  We are committed to building trusted referral relationships with other veterinary practices throughout the country and have a dedicated Referral Co-Ordinator to assist in the referral process.
